Yes you need one of each variety for pollenization. These trees will do well with our weather anywhere in Texas. The issue with these trees has been the root stock and the clay soils. The newroot-1 rootstock is new and is promising. It will do well in a pot and should be better in the clay soils than the mazzard or colt rootstock sold by others. These are still experimental. They need to be planted high so they do not sit in water during a rain. Please feel free to contact me with more questions.

With the Cherry trees, do you need more than one for pollenization (sp?) to take place? And how do you think they would do in South Brazoria County? Angleton to be exact. Thanks in advance!
