Fat tailed Karakul ram lamb

June 4, 2014

IMG_1335 We just adopted a Karakul ram lamb and need naming ideas. Karakul sheep are a multi-purpose breed originating in central Asia and named after a city in Uzbekistan. They are famous for their fat tail.

The name we chose was Ali Baaba.

Looked up common names in Uzebekistan and for boys the most common is Dilshod. The Urban Dictionary said Dilshod is Persian for “Content Heart”
Any ram at your farm is bound to have a content heart.

Well not tonight. All day long he has followed us around, but tonight he has to stay alone, something sheep are not wired for. But we have to sequester him for a period, checking for health, before we let him in with the other sheep. Poor dude is alone–close to the dogs for protection.

Maybe “Stan the Man” the ram from Uzebekistan, though I am sure when you are upset with him, it will become Stanley.
